About the Piece
The Text Used

Cryptid: noun: An animal whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as the yeti.

And the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot, Chupacabra, etc. My family loved this stuff when I was growing up. Unsolved Mysteries would have an episode every once and a while about this kind of stuff, and it was always exciting.

Mothman, though, is something different. Most of the other well-known cryptids could just be an un-cataloged species of animal. The story of Mothman talks of something other-worldly, possibly not even of our dimension. He's a harbinger of disaster, and his motives are unknown: does he come to witness, prevent, or cause events like the collapse of the Silver Bridge?

At heart I'm a skeptic. but I want to believe, and Mothman is certainly a great story.
